4 June 2024FESTIVAL DEI DUE MONDI 2024
June 28 – July 14, 2024
From June 28 to July 14, 2024, Spoleto will host the 67th edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi, an international event that will transform the city into a stage for opera, music, theater, dance, exhibitions, and cinema. The festival will feature two main operas: "Ariadne auf Naxos" by Strauss, conducted by the Budapest Festival Orchestra with Iván Fischer, and "Orfeo ed Euridice" by Gluck, directed by Damiano Michieletto with the Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. The program will explore the theme of myth, with performances inspired by mythological figures, such as the one by director Jeanne Candel on Baùbo. International artists like Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never), Lizz Wright, and Friedemann Vogel will participate in the event. The festival will also include midday concerts with groups like the JACK Quartet and La Lira di Orfeo, a lectio magistralis by Stefano Mancuso, and dance performances on the vertical surfaces of city buildings. Alessandro Baricco will present the world premiere of "Breve ed eretica Storia della Musica classica." Additionally, the festival will offer activities for children, art exhibitions, and concerts organized by the Fondazione Carla Fendi and Monini.
