27 May 2024Hello, I'm Marco, and today I want to share with you my experience of a day cycling along the picturesque bike paths of Umbria. Starting from Foligno, my approximately 30 km itinerary will take me to discover Bevagna and finally Assisi, crossing some of the most fascinating landscapes of this region.
My day begins early in Foligno, where I prepare for an adventure immersed in nature and history. Mounting my bike, I immediately feel energized, ready to explore the well-maintained bike paths that this area offers. Before setting off, I make sure to have enough water and sandwiches with me, perfect for a lunch break surrounded by nature.
The first stop of my journey is Bevagna, a medieval village that seems to come out of a history book. Cycling along the bike path that crosses green fields and vineyards, I breathe in the fresh morning air and am enchanted by the scents of the Umbrian countryside. Arriving in Bevagna, I decide to stop at the Lavatoio, one of the most characteristic places in the village. Here, the sound of flowing water and the tranquility of the surroundings give me a moment of pure relax. The Lavatoio, with its ancient stone basins, tells stories of times past and makes me appreciate the simple and authentic beauty of this place.
After a short break, I continue my journey, leaving Bevagna behind and heading towards Assisi. The bike path continues through breathtaking landscapes, with the silhouette of Mount Subasio looming on the horizon. Cycling in this scenery is a wonderful experience: every pedal stroke brings me closer to the spirituality and history of Assisi. Along the way, I stop in one of the many meadows lining the bike path to enjoy my sandwiches. Surrounded by greenery and the singing of birds, this picnic is a moment of pure joy and relaxation.
Arriving in Assisi, I stop to admire the Basilica of San Francesco, one of the most sacred and visited places in the world. The grandeur of the basilica and the atmosphere of peace that surrounds it fill me with a deep sense of serenity. After parking my bike, I stroll through the streets of Assisi, exploring its churches, squares, and picturesque alleys.
My day of cycling ends with a relaxing ride back to Foligno. The sun sets on the horizon, tinting the sky with warm golden hues, while I mentally retrace all the wonders I have seen and experienced during this splendid adventure.
Cycling from Foligno to Assisi passing through Bevagna was an unforgettable journey, allowing me to discover places of extraordinary beauty and immerse myself in the history and culture of Umbria. I can't wait to return and explore other corners of this fascinating region, always on my faithful bike.
